Summarising what I have learnt about the Thriller genre
After all my research and investgiating into the thriller genre by deconstructing film openings and looking into the genres conventions associated, I feel like I have learnt alot.
For example I have learnt that the main conventions of a thriller is that the protagonist is more than likley going to be female based on representations of gender therfore vice versa the antagonist is likly to be male - there is an idea that somtimes the antagonist remains a mystery untill the finale of the film but the male gender remains dominant.
The openings of thrillers tend to establish the protagonist and slowly draw the audience into the progtagonists life.
What now?
In order to successfully produce our own thriller opening, we need to keep referring back to our case studies and research. Referring back and looking at the conventions will allow us to create an succesful thriller opening. There are also alot of pre productions requirments that have to be completed before production starts like budget plans, recces and risk assesments - this all allows our film opening to run smoothly without any problems.
