There are three parts in a production: pre-production, production, and post-production. Pre-production is the planning beforer a project begins

For example in a film, producers will have to plan out and prep before starting to film. Planning and prepping may include hiring people e.g  people to build scene sets,  stunt men, the cast. They will have to find locations to shoot their movie and have the movie to fund everything.

For a magazine, editors have to plan out sell lines, the photos, storys etc and find people for their front page e.g celebrities
